Aims and Objectives
The overall aim of the programme is to provide students with a primarily scientific or engineering-based educational background with business skills relevant for pursuing managerial careers in internationally orientated manufacturing and service industries. The need for such skills is growing rapidly as graduates are increasingly expected to assume broader tasks and responsibilities than most technical universities have traditionally prepared them for. The programme is accredited by the Top Industrial Managers Europe (TIME) Association: a confederacy of leading technical universities in Europe.

Scope and Structure of the Programme

IMIM students during a company visit
The programme covers a broad range of managerial topics and gradually deepens the students' knowledge of these. Particular emphasis is placed on topics of great relevance for technical university graduates, such as operations and supply chain management. Another key feature of the programme is its integrative teaching approach aimed at developing the ability of students to tackle managerial issues in an interdisciplinary manner. The fourth semester is entirely devoted to industry-related project work in close collaboration with European Companies, forming the basis for a master thesis to be submitted towards the end of the semester. The duration of the programme is four semesters (two years).
Students will spend a semester at each of the two participating Universities. In the 2012/2014 Programme students will have, then, the possibility to choose among different optional streams of specialization in different Universities and Countries. According to the chosen area or region of interest, students will attend the 3rd semester in the University specialized in that particular field or situated in a specific geographical area. The final semester is for Master thesis and can be performed virtually in any Country of the world. In addition to the delivery of managerial content, the program facilitates and stimulates the participation to the social, economical, cultural life of the hosting Countries (e.g. with courses of local language, seminars of local managers, Company visits)
